The short version
Sinkers collects as little as it can. There are no ads, no advertising trackers and no third-party analytics. If you play without signing in, your game is stored only in your own browser. The game does count how it is used, in its own database, as described below.
How the game is measured
To see where players get stuck, the game records what happens in it: which screens are opened, fights started and how they ended, crates opened, buttons pressed in the shop, and the like. Each record carries a random number kept in your browser, so visits can be counted, along with the kind of device, screen size, language, and the site you arrived from. It does not carry your name, your network address, or anything typed into the game. If you are signed in, the records are linked to your account. They are kept in the game's own database and are not shared or sold.
Nothing is recorded if your browser sends a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal.
What is stored, and where
| What | When | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Your save (parts, coins, progress) and settings | Playing without signing in | Your browser's local storage, on your device only |
| Your X display name, handle and profile picture | When you sign in with X | The game's database (Supabase) |
| Your save, ship, trophies and battle record | While signed in | The game's database |
| Your app's name, pitch, category and link | If you add them | The game's database, and shown publicly |
| A count of visits to your link | When someone follows it from the board | The game's database. To count each visitor once a day, a scrambled form of their network address is kept for that day; the address itself is not stored |
| Order number, pack bought and amount | If you buy a gem pack | The game's database. Card details go to Polar, the payment provider, and never reach Sinkers |
What is public
If you sign in, your display name, X handle, profile picture, ship, trophies, win and loss record, and any app details you add are shown on the leaderboard, including the public leaderboard page that search engines can read.
Other services involved
- Supabase stores accounts and game data and handles sign-in.
- X confirms who you are when you sign in. Sinkers receives your public profile and nothing else, and cannot post for you.
- Polar takes payments and handles tax and receipts.
- Netlify serves the site, and like any web host sees the network address of each request.
- Google Fonts serves the typefaces.
- SnagFrog, the author's own bug tracker, receives a report if you send one, and a short technical record if the game hits an error (the error and the page it happened on, with anything that looks like a token removed). Neither includes your name.
Your choices
You can play without an account. You can remove your app details at any time from your profile. To have your account and its data deleted, write to @gjorge_k on X or through karakabakov.com, and it will be done.
Children
Sinkers is not directed at children under 13, and signing in requires an X account.
